Spark Plug: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

NOTE: For diagnosis of the spark plugs, refer to Testing and Inspection/Spark Plug Diagnosis.

1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
2. Remove the spark plug wires from the spark plugs by gripping boot firmly. Turn the boot one half turn when removing the wire.
3. Remove the spark plugs from the engine using a 13/16 in. (20.6 mm) spark plug socket.

INSTALLATION

NOTE: Always use a spark plug type that is specified for this vehicle. For adjustment, refer to Adjustment Procedures/Spark Plug Gap
Adjustment.

1. Install spark plugs into engine using a 13/16 inch spark plug socket. Tighten to 28 Nm (21 ft lb).
2. Install spark plug wires onto spark plugs by pressing the boots firmly onto the spark plugs.
3. Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
