Audible Warning Device: Component Tests and General Diagnostics
Headlamp Warning Alarm
The headlight warning alarm will sound if the Light Switch is in the PARK or HEAD position, with the ignition key removed from the ignition cylinder
and the LH Front Door opened. Voltage is applied at all times through the Tail Fuse to the Light 1 Relay. When the Light Switch is in the PARK or
HEAD position, ground is applied to the coil of Light 1 Relay. This energizes the coil and closes the contacts allowing voltage to flow through Light 1
Relay to the Audio Alarm Module. With the LH Front Door open, a ground signal is provided through the LH Front Door Jamb Switch to the Audio
Alarm Module. When both of these conditions are met simultaneously, the Audio Alarm Module activates the headlight warning alarm (approximately
one pulse per second). The alarm will continue to sound until either the Light Switch is turned "OFF" or the LH Front Door is closed.
Ignition Key Warning Alarm
Battery, voltage is applied at all times through the Tail Fuse to the Ignition Key Warning Switch. When the ignition key is inserted into the ignition
cylinder, the Ignition Key Warning Switch is closed, and a voltage signal is provided to the Audio Alarm Module. If the LH door is opened, the LH
Front Door Jamb Switch closes and provides a ground signal to the Audio Alarm Module. When these two signals are received simultaneously, the
Audio Alarm Module activates the ignition key warning alarm (approximately one pulse per half second). The Audio Alarm Module will not activate
the alarm if it receives an ignition ON signal from the 10 Fuse while the ignition key is in the ignition cylinder and the LH Front Door is open. The alarm
will continue to sound until either the ignition key is removed from the ignition cylinder or the LH Front Door is closed.
Seat Belt Warning Alarm
The Seat Belt Warning Alarm (approximately 1 pulse per half second) is activated when the following conditions are met simultaneously: Ignition
Switch in the "ON" position and the LH Front Seat Belt unbuckled. The Audio Alarm Module applies and monitors battery voltage across a fixed
resistor to the Seat Belt Switch. When the LH Front Seat Belt is unbuckled, the voltage being monitored at the Audio Alarm Module is high, thus
indicating that the LH Front Seat Belt is unbuckled. The alarm will sound for six seconds if the LH Front Seat Belt is not buckled. If at any time, the LH
Front Seat Belt is buckled while the Audio Alarm Module is sounding, the alarm will stop.
The Seat Belt Indicator works in conjunction with the Seat Belt Warning Alarm The Seat Belt Indicator is supplied ignition voltage through the IG Fuse.
If the LH Front Seat Belt is unbuckled, then ground is applied from G400 through the closed contacts of the Seat Belt Switch to the Seat Belt Indicator.
The Seat Belt Indicator will remain lit until the LH Front Seat Belt is fastened.
