Voltage Signal: Description and Operation
Electrical Load Idle-Up Signal
ELECTRICAL LOAD IDLE-UP SIGNAL
The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors a signal from the Electric Load Diode. When an electric load is indicated either by blower motor
request, rear defogger request, or headlight request, the ECM senses a voltage on the signal wire from the Electric Load Diode and adjusts the idle
speed using the Idle Speed Control (ISC) motor. When the signal is removed from the Electric Load Diode, the ECM will return the engine to
normal idle speed.
