Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

THREE WAY CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT

Raise and suitably support vehicle.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Two bolts from front pipe-to-TWC connection and TWC support bracket.
2. Two nuts and two bolts from TWC-to-resonator/intermediate pipe connection and TWC, with two seals, from vehicle.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. TWC, with new seals, to resonator/intermediate pipe; secure with two bolts and two nuts. Do not tighten fully.
2. TWC and TWC support bracket to front pipe; secure with two bolts. Do not tighten fully.

ADJUST

Align all system components properly to prevent any noise or vibrations before tightening fasteners.

TIGHTEN

1. TWC-to-resonator/intermediate pipe nuts and bolts to 43 Nm (32 lb.ft.).
2. Front pipe-to-TWC bolts to 43 Nm (32 lb.ft.).
