Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair
Circuit Opening Relay Behind Center Console
FUEL PRESSURE RELIEF PROCEDURE
WARNING:

To reduce the risk of fire and personal injury, it is necessary to relieve fuel system pressure before servicing fuel system components.

After relieving fuel system pressure, a small amount of fuel may be released when servicing fuel lines or connections. In order to reduce
the chance of personal injury, cover fuel line fittings with a shop towel before disconnecting to catch any fuel that may leak out. Place the
towel in an approved container when disconnect is complete.
PROCEDURE
1. Loosen fuel filler cap to relieve tank pressure.
2. Remove center trim bezel from center console by gently prying around edges to disconnect clips.
3. Remove four screws and radio from center console (If equipped).
4. Disconnect circuit opening relay electrical connector (see image).
5. Crank engine and allow to stall. Crank engine for an additional 3 seconds to assure relief of any remaining fuel pressure.
6. Remove negative (-) battery cable.
7. Reconnect circuit opening relay electrical connector.
8. Install radio (If equipped) into center console; secure with four screws.
9. Install center trim bezel to center console, pushing it in until clips engage.
10. Tighten fuel filler cap.
