Distributor Disassembly, Test and Reassembly
DISTRIBUTOR DISASSEMBLY TEST AND REASSEMBLY
TOOL REQUIRED
J 39200 Digital Multimeter
PROCEDURE
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Rotor from distributor housing.
2. Ignition coil dust cover and gasket from distributor housing.
3. Two nuts and four wires from the ignition coil terminals.
Ignition Coil Screws
4. Four screws and ignition coil from distributor housing.
5. One screw and harness retainer from distributor housing.
Noise Suppressor Condenser
6. One screw and noise suppressor condenser from distributor housing.
NOTICE: The term "cold" refers to temperature ranging from - 10°C (14°F) to 50°C (104°F). The term "hot" refers to temperature ranging from
50°C (104°F) to 100°C (212°F).
MEASURE
1. The resistance of distributor connector when cold, between terminals 1 and 2, using a J 39200. If the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor resistance
is not between 185 and 275 ohms, replace the distributor housing.
2. The resistance of distributor connector when warm between terminals 1 and 2, using a J 39200. If the CMP sensor resistance is not between 240
