Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve: Service and Repair
PCV HOSE AND VALVE REPLACEMENT
IMPORTANT: An engine which is operated without any crankcase ventilation can be damaged. Therefore, it is important to replace the Positive
Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve and air inlet filter/separator (where used) at scheduled service intervals.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative (-) battery cable.
PCV Valve And Hoses
2. Four clamps, both PCV hoses and PCV valve from engine and intake plenum.
INSPECT PCV VALVE OPERATION
1. Connect a clean hose to cylinder head side of PCV valve.
PCV Valve Check
2. Blow into the cylinder head side and make sure that air passes through easily.
CAUTION: Do not suck air through PCV valve. Petroleum substances inside the valve are harmful.
3. Remove hose from intake manifold side of PCV valve and connect it to the intake manifold side of valve.
