Fuel Tank Pressure Release Valve: Description and Operation
FUEL CUT-OFF VALVE
DESCRIPTION
There is a fuel cut-off valve inside the fuel tank. The function of this valve is to send evaporated fuel, which accumulates in the fuel tank, to the
Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister.
OPERATION
The valve is constructed so that when the surface of the fuel inside the tank reaches higher than the middle of the tank, the valve opens to prevent
fuel from flowing out. When the fuel level drops, evaporated fuel collects and pressure is exerted on a check ball inside the tank, leading
evaporated fuel to the EVAP canister.
