Prizm L4-108 1.8L DOHC VIN 8 MFI (1995)
NOTE: On Air Bag Equipped Models, Refer To Air Bag Disarming & Arming Procedures. Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belt/Air
Bags(SRS)/Service and Repair.
1. Place front wheels in a straight ahead position.
2. Remove two side trim covers from steering column, Fig. 3 .
3. Remove two Torx head screws, release Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and disconnect upper steering column connector, Fig. 6 .
4. Remove air bag from steering wheel.
5. Disconnect horn connector.
6. Remove steering wheel retaining nut.
7. Mark the end of the steering shaft in relation to steering wheel so the wheel and shaft can be aligned properly during installation.
8. Remove steering wheel retaining nut.
9. Using steering wheel puller tool No. J-1859-03, or equivalent, remove steering wheel.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install air bag module and torque Torx head screws to 78 inch lbs.
b. Ensure proper position of steering wheel.
c. Torque steering wheel nut to 25 ft. lbs.
