Refrigerant: Service and Repair
CAUTION: Air conditioning systems contain Refrigerant-12. This is a chemical mixture which requires special procedures to avoid
personal injury.
1. Always wear goggles and work in a well-ventilated area.
2. Avoid contacting refrigerant-12 with eyes or skin. If contact is made:

Do not rub.

Wash area with plenty of cool water.

Go immediately to a physician or hospital for professional treatment.

Do not attempt to treat yourself.
3. All Refrigerant-12 Drums are shipped with a heavy metal screw cap to protect the valve and safety stem from damage. It is good practice to
replace this cap after each use for this same reason.
4. If it is necessary to transport any container of Refrigerant-12 in a vehicle, never carry it in the passenger compartment.
5. If the occasion arises to fill a drum of Refrigerant-12 never fill the drum completely. Always leave room for the liquid to expand.
CAUTION: Should Refrigerant-12 contact your eyes consult a physician immediately.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE YOUR HANDS TO RUB AFFECTED EYE(S). Instead, use large quantities of fresh water to gradually raise
the temperature of the affected area above freezing.
CAUTION: Should Refrigerant-12 touch skin, the injury should be treated the same as skin which has been frostbitten or frozen.
