Removing The Distributor Mounting Bolts

Installing The Distributor O-ring

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
2. Disconnect all the distributor electrical connections.
3. Remove the distributor cap by removing the 3 screws.

Mark the distributor housing position on the engine.

Mark the rotor position on the distributor housing assembly.

4. Remove the distributor mounting bolts.
5. Remove the distributor housing from engine.
6. Remove the O-ring from distributor shaft.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the new O-ring onto distributor shaft.
2. Install the distributor housing to the engine and match the marks made on the engine during removal. Be certain that the rotor position also

matches the mark on the distributor housing made during removal.

NOTE:  Do not fully tighten the distributor mounting bolts since ignition timing may require adjustment.

3. Install the distributor cap and tighten the screws.
4. Connect all the distributor electrical connections.
5. Connect the battery negative (-) cable.
6. Set the ignition timing. Refer to Adjustments / Ignition Timing Adjustment.
