Distributor Disassembly & Assembly

Distributor Components

DISASSEMBLY

1. Remove distributor and ignition coil. Refer to Distributor / Removal and Installation and Ignition Coil / Service and Repair.
2. Remove the distributor wiring harness from the distributor housing.

INSPECTION

1. Check all distributor wiring harness wiring for continuity. Wiggle the wiring around while measuring resistance. If any wire is not continuous,

replace the distributor wiring harness.

2. Check the distributor shaft bearing by rotating the shaft while exerting pressure in a lateral direction. If any play is detected, replace the distributor

housing.

ASSEMBLY

1. Install the distributor wiring harness to the distributor housing.
2. Install the ignition coil and the distributor. Refer to Distributor / Removal and Installation and Ignition Coil / Service and Repair.
3. Adjust ignition timing. Refer to Adjustments / Ignition Timing Adjustments.
