6. Uniformly loosen and Remove the eight intake camshaft bearing cap bolts in several passes.
7. Eight bolts, four intake camshaft-bearing caps and intake camshaft from vehicle.
WARNING: Do not pry or attempt to force the intake camshaft with a tool or other object. Components may fail and snap off causing
personal injury.
CAUTION: If the intake camshaft cannot be lifted out straight and level, retighten the No. 3 bearing cap and alternately loosen the bolts of the
bearing cap a little at a time while pulling up on the intake camshaft gear.
8. Set the exhaust camshaft so that the exhaust camshaft key is in the 4 o'clock position.
NOTE: This position allows the No. 1 and No. 3 cylinder cam lobes of the exhaust camshaft to push their valve lifters evenly.
9. Two bolts and front bearing cap with oil seal. If the bearing cap cannot be Removed by hand, leave it in place with bolts Removed.
10. Uniformly loosen and Remove the eight exhaust camshaft bearing cap bolts in several passes.
11. Four bearing caps and exhaust camshaft from engine. If the exhaust camshaft cannot be lifted out straight and level, retighten the No. 3 bearing cap
and alternately loosen the bolts of the bearing cap a little at a time while pulling up on the exhaust camshaft gear. Clean old sealants, gasket
