Oil Pressure Warning Lamp/Indicator: Description and Operation
CIRCUIT OPERATION
With the ignition switch in the "ON" or "START" position, ignition voltage is applied through the GAUGE Fuse, Audio Alarm Module, and
Junction Block 3 to the Oil Pressure Indicator in the Instrument Cluster. The Oil Pressure Switch provides the ground to the indicator when there
is little or no oil pressure. When the engine is not running, the Oil Pressure Switch is closed, due to the lack of oil pressure, and the indicator
lights. When the engine is started, oil pressure builds up within the cylinder block and the Oil Pressure Switch opens. When this switch opens, the
Oil Pressure Indicator goes out. If the oil pressure should fall below 20 kPa (3 psi) with the engine running, the Oil Pressure Indicator will light
and remain lit until the oil pressure exceeds 20 kPa (3 psi).
