EGR Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
EGR Solenoid Vacuum (SV) Valve (California Emissions Only)
Tools Required:
J39200 Digital Multimeter
J36169 Fuse Jumper Wire

Remove EGR SV valve from vehicle. Refer to "Exhaust Gas Recirculation Solenoid Vacuum (EGR SV) Valve Replacement" in this section.
Measure
Measuring EGR SV Valve Resistance

Using a J39200, measure resistance between EGR SV valve terminals. Resistance when cold should be 37 - 44 ohms. Replace as necessary.
Checking For A Shorted SV Valve

Using a J39200, check for continuity between each terminal and the body of the EGR SV valve. Replace the EGR SV valve if continuity is
detected.
