Positive Crankcase Ventilation: Service and Repair

Remove or Disconnect

1.

Negative (-) battery cable.

PCV And Hoses

2.

Four clamps, both positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hoses and PCV valve from engine and intake plenum.

Inspect

PCV valve operation

1.

Connect a clean hose to cylinder head side of PCV valve.

PCV Valve Check

2.

Blow into the cylinder head side and make sure that air passes through easily.

CAUTION:Do not suck air through PCV valve. Petroleum substances inside the valve are harmful.

3.

Remove hose from intake manifold side of PCV valve and connect it to the intake manifold side of valve.
