Fig. 9  Axle Seal Installation

1.

Raise and support rear of vehicle.

2.

Remove wheel and tire assembly.

3.

Remove hub cap, cotter pin and nut and washer, then the hub and brake drum assembly.

4.

Remove outer bearing from hub.

5.

Remove oil seal from hub using tool No. J-26941 or equivalent, Fig. 6, then remove inner bearing from hub.

6.

Tap inner bearing outer race and outer bearing outer race out of hub, Fig. 7.

7.

Install inner and outer bearing races using tool J-35307-1 and J-35307-2 respectively, Fig. 8.

8.

Install replacement oil seal in inner side of hub using tool No. J-35305 or equivalent, Fig. 9.

9.

Pack bearings using suitable grease.

10.

Reverse procedure to install. Adjust wheel bearings as described under ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES/REAR WHEEL BEARING.
