Steering Gear: Description and Operation
Jidosha Kiki Rack & Pinion Manual Steering Gear
This rack and pinion steering system consists of two main components, the rack and the pinion. When the steering wheel is turned, motion is
transmitted to the steering shaft, shaft joint and then the pinion. The pinion teeth mesh with the rack teeth and the motion is further transferred to the rack
and changed to linear motion. The linear force is then transmitted through the tie rods and to the steering knuckles which steer the front wheels.
