Timing Belt: Service and Repair
TIMING BELT

Remove or Disconnect
Tool Required: J 28467-A Engine Support Fixture

Battery negative (-) cable.
2. Generator drive belt.
3. Power steering pump drive belt.

Install a J 28467-A engine support fixture.
4. Right engine mount.
5. Four upper timing belt cover bolts.

Raise and suitably support vehicle.
6. Right-side under cover.
7. Two lower timing belt cover bolts and cover from vehicle.
Cam Pulley Timing Mark

Rotate the crankshaft so the number four cylinder is at TDC on the compression stroke by aligning the camshaft pulley timing mark to the "9
o'clock" position (Figure 15).
8. Crankshaft pulley center bolt from pulley.
9. Four crankshaft pulley side bolts and pulley from vehicle.

Loosen belt tensioner retaining bolt.
10. Timing belt from around tensioner, three pulleys and belt from vehicle.
Install or Connect
Tool Required: J 28467-A Engine Support Fixture
1. Timing belt to vehicle; wrap around crankshaft timing pulley, tensioner pulley, coolant pump pulley and camshaft timing pulley (Figure 16).

Insert a hex wrench into the tensioner pulley hexagonal hole. Rotate the pulley counterclockwise to tension the belt. Hold the pulley stationary
