Brake Warning Indicator: Description and Operation
Brake Warning Indicator, ABS
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) contains the rear wheel anti-lock (RWAL) self-diagnosis programming. Should a failure be detected,
the EBCM sets a trouble code and will cause the "BRAKE" warning lamp to illuminate and the RWAL brake system operation will cease its
operation.
After the RWAL system is repaired, erase codes by enabling flash code diagnostics as follows:
1. Release parking brake and block drive wheels.
2. Ensure brake fluid level in reservoir is adequate.
3. Turn ignition switch to On position.
4. Using a jumper wire, short terminals 3 and 5 of the diagnostic connector together for more than two seconds.
5. After flash code diagnostic mode has been entered, turn igition switch to Off position.
