Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments
1.
Disconnect negative cable from battery.
2.
Disconnect Throttle Position Sensor/ECM connector.
3.
Remove the throttle opener vacuum hose from the VSV and connect a vacuum pump with gauge to the hose.
4.
Apply 30" Hg vacuum to the throttle opener to move the throttle valve to the idle position.

To close the throttle valve, loosen the idle speed adjusting screw until there is clearance between the throttle valve lever and the idle speed
adjusting screw, make a note counting how many turns were used.
6.
Screw the idle adjusting screw back in until it just contacts the lever, again counting how many turns were used. DO NOT overtighten, this will
cause the throttle valve to open.
7.
Subtract the number of turns counted in tightening the screw from the number of turns noted when loosening the screw, and note the difference.
This difference represents the number of turns the idle speed adjusting screw was actually loosened from the idle position. Use this number as a
guide when setting it back to the idle position after adjustment.

8.
Insert a 0.4 mm (0.016 in) feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and the throttle lever.
9.
Loosen throttle position sensor mounting bolts.
