Power Steering Pump: Description and Operation

The power steering pump is a vane-type pump driven by belt from the crankshaft pulley.
As the discharge rate of the power steering pump increases in proportion to the pump revolution speed, a flow control valve is utilized to control the
maximum amount of fluid needed for steering operation. Within the flow control valve is a pressure relief valve which controls the maximum amount of
pressure supplied to the power steering gear.
