EGR Solenoid Vacuum (SV) Valve: Testing and Inspection
Inspecting EGR VSV
Inspecting EGR SV Valve
EGR SOLENOID VACUUM VALVE CIRCUIT INSPECTION
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
Vacuum hoses from Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve (or EGR pressure transducer) and throttle body unit.
INSPECT
^
Disconnect EGR Solenoid Vacuum (SV) valve electrical connector. Check resistance between two terminals of EGR SV valve. Resistance should
be between 30-38 ohms at 20°C (68°F). If resistance is as specified proceed with check. If not, replace EGR SV valve.
^
With ignition switch in the "OFF" position, blow into hose "A." Air should come out of hose "B" and not out of filter. If otherwise, the EGR
Solenoid Vacuum valve is defective.
^
Turn ignition switch to "ON." Backprobe EGR SV valve connector with a fused jumper from cavity "2" (LT GRN/YEL wire) to ground. Blow
into hose "A." Air should come out of filter and not out of hose "B." If otherwise, the EGR SV valve is defective.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
Vacuum hoses securely.
