Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
Description
FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR REPLACEMENT
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure under Service and Repair.
2. Negative (-) battery cable.
3. Vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator.
4. Fuel return hose from fuel pressure regulator.
5. Two bolts and fuel pressure regulator from fuel rail. Use a shop towel to catch any remaining fuel.
Installing Fuel Pressure Regulator
INSTALL OR CONNECT

Apply a thin coat of oil to new O-ring (shown in accompanying image).
1. Fuel pressure regulator to fuel rail; secure with two bolts. Tighten two pressure regulator bolts to 8-12 Nm (6-8.5 lb. ft.).
2. Fuel return hose and vacuum hose to fuel pressure regulator.
3. Negative (-) battery cable. Tighten negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).
AFTER REPAIR INSPECTION
Turn ignition switch to "ON" and then back to "LOCK" to pressurize the fuel system. Check for any fuel leaks.
