EGR Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation
EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION TEMPERATURE SENSOR
DESCRIPTION
The Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temperature (EGRT) sensor measures the temperature of the gas which was recirculated through the EGR valve.
The sensor converts a change in the exhaust gas temperature into a voltage input that is sent to the Engine Control Module (ECM).
OPERATION
As exhaust gas temperature lowers, resistance increases and as exhaust gas temperature rises, resistance decreases thus varying the voltage input to
the ECM. The EGRT sensor is located in the rear of the engine compartment on the EGR valve.
