Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

TP Sensor Removal

REMOVAL:

1.

Disconnect negative battery cable.

2.

Disconnect TP sensor electrical connector.

3.

Remove TP sensor wiring terminals from electrical connector (TP sensor side).

4.

Remove two bolts and TP sensor from throttle body assembly.
NOTE:  The TPS is an electrical component and must not be soaked in any liquid cleaner or solvent, as damage may result.

INSTALLATION:  

1.

Install TP sensor to throttle body assembly; secure with two bolts. DO NOT tighten fully.

2.

Install TP sensor wiring terminals into electrical connector.

Applying Vacuum To Throttle Opener

3.

Remove throttle opener vacuum hose at throttle opener solenoid vacuum (to SV) valve. Apply 16-20" Hg vacuum to the throttle opener.
