C 1500 Truck 2WD V6-262 4.3L VIN Z (1992)
Oil Pan: Service and Repair
A one piece type oil pan gasket is used on these engines.
Two Wheel Drive Models
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Raise and support vehicle.
3.
Drain oil from engine.
4.
Disconnect exhaust crossover pipe.
5.
Remove torque converter cover, if equipped.
6.
Remove strut rods from flywheel cover, if equipped.
7.
Remove strut rods from front engine mounts, if equipped.
8.
Remove oil pan attaching bolts, nuts and reinforcements.
9.
Remove oil pan and gasket.
10.
Reverse procedure to install. Apply sealant to front cover block joint and to the rear crankshaft seal to block joint. Apply sealant approximately 1
inch in both directions from each of the four corners.
11.
Tighten oil pan attaching bolts and oil pan nuts in corners to specifications.
Four Wheel Drive Models
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.
2.
Drain oil from engine, then remove front shield and front skid plate.
3.
Remove front axle from mounting brackets. Rotate front axle downward.
4.
Remove strut rods at inspection cover, then disconnect exhaust crossover pipe.
5.
Remove starter, then the flywheel/torque converter inspection cover.
6.
Remove oil cooler line bracket, then the oil filter and adapter.
7.
Remove oil pan attaching bolts, nuts and reinforcements.
8.
Remove oil pan and gasket.
9.
Reverse procedure to install. Apply sealant to front cover block joint and to the rear crankshaft seal to block joint. Apply sealant approximately 1
inch in both directions from each of the four corners.
10.
Tighten oil pan attaching bolts and oil pan nuts in corners to specifications.
