7. Hold the pinion flange with the J 8614-01.
8. Remove the pinion flange nut and the washer.
9. Use a container in order to catch any lubricant.
Important: Use care not to damage any of the machined surfaces.
10. Remove the pinion flange using the J 8614-01 with the remover attachment.
Important: The pinion flange has an oil seal that is part of the pinion flange assembly. The pinion flange must be inspected to ensure that the seal is
not damaged.
11. Pry the oil seal from the bore.
12. Thoroughly clean any foreign material from the contact area.
Replace any parts as necessary.
Installation Procedure
1. Lubricate the cavity between the lips of the oil sea] with wheel bearing lubricant.
2. Install the oil seal into the bore using the J22836 or the J 22388 or the J 24384.
