Fuel Cut Solenoid: Description and Operation
Cold Advance And Shutdown Solenoids
PURPOSE
The Shutdown solenoid stops fuel flow to the fuel injectors.
OPERATION
The shutdown solenoid operates by spring pressure. When 12 volts is removed from the solenoid, spring pressure pushes the solenoid tang, which
is pushed against a valve which controls fuel flow to the injectors. By removing the 12 volt source to the solenoid, fuel flow to the injectors is shut
off inside the injector pump.
LOCATION
The Shutdown solenoid is located under the injector pump cover.
