Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair
Replacement, Engine Overhaul
REMOVAL
1. Remove the following components from the cylinder head:
a. The valve rocker arm nuts (1)
b. The valve rocker arm balls (2)
c. The valve rocker arms (3)
2. Remove the valve pushrods.
3. Place the following parts in a rack so that they can be reinstalled in their original locations:
-
The valve rocker arms
-
The valve rocker arm balls (if applicable)
-
The valve pushrods
INSTALLATION
NOTE: Be sure to keep parts in order. Parts must be put back from where they were removed.
1. Coat the valve rocker arm and valve rocker arm ball bearing surfaces with prelube GM P/N 1052367 or equivalent.
NOTE: Be sure that the valve pushrods seat in the valve lifter sockets.
2. Install the valve pushrods.
3. Install the following parts:

The valve rocker arms
-
The valve rocker arm balls
-
The valve rocker arm nuts
