C 3500 Truck 2WD V8-6.0L VIN U (2001)
1. Install the pitman arm on the pitman shaft.
2. Align the marks made at removal.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the pitman arm washer and the pitman arm nut (8).

Tighten the pitman arm nut to 250 Nm (184 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the relay rod (9) to the pitman arm ball stud. Ensure the seal is on the pitman arm ball stud.
5. Install the J 29193.

Tighten the J 29193 to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) in order to seat the tapers.
6. Remove the J 29193.
7. Install the new prevailing torque nut.

Tighten the new prevailing torque nut to 62 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
8. Install the engine protection shield, if equipped. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement in Body and Frame.
9. Lower the vehicle.
