7. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt. Discard the bolt.
8. Install the J 41816-2 into the end of the crankshaft.
Important: Do not pull on outer edge of the crankshaft balancer.
9. Use a 3 jaw puller to remove the crankshaft balancer.
10. Remove the J 41816-2.
11. Remove the crankshaft balancer friction washer. This will be located at the end of the crankshaft balancer or on the crankshaft.
12. Clean and inspect the crankshaft balancer.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the crankshaft balancer friction washer, GM P/N 12573950 to the end of the crankshaft balancer.
2. Install the crankshaft balancer using the J41478.
3. Remove the J 41478.
