Flex Plate: Service and Repair

Engine Flywheel Replacement

Tools Required

J 36660-A Torque Angle Meter

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement (LL8)  Transmission Replacement (LM4, LS2)   .

Important:  Note the position and the direction of the engine flywheel before removal.

2. Remove the flywheel bolts.
3. Remove the flywheel.
4. Clean and Inspect the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection  (See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and

Repair/Overhaul) .

Installation Procedure

1. Add threadlock to the new flywheel bolts. Refer to Sealers, Adhesives, and Lubricants  (See: Engine, Cooling and

Exhaust/Engine/Specifications/Sealers, Adhesives, and Lubricants) for the correct part number.

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice   .

2. Install the flywheel and secure the flywheel with the new bolts.
