Brake Pad: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE 

Use GM replacement brake lining material for this vehicle. GM replacement brake parts provide the proper brake balance for stopping distance and
for braking control. The intended brake balance for this vehicle can change if GM replacement brake lining materials are not used.

IMPORTANT:   Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper.

1. Remove the caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement (Front Wheel) or Brake Caliper Replacement (Rear Wheel).

NOTICE:   Do not allow the brake components to hang from the flexible brake hoses. Damage to the brake hoses could result.

2. Suspend the caliper.
3. Remove the anchor bracket (if necessary).

4. Remove the inboard lining from the caliper.

5. Remove the retainer spring from the inboard brake shoe.
6. Remove the outboard lining from the caliper.
