4. Apply pipe sealant or equivalent to the fill plug threads.
5. Install the fill plug.

Tighten the plug to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).

6. Install the fuel tank shield, if equipped. 
7. Lower the vehicle.

Transfer Case Fluid Replacement (Trail Blazer EXT, Envoy XL, Envoy XUV) 

Removal Procedure

1. Raise the vehicle. 
2. Remove the transfer case shield, if equipped. 
3. Remove the fill plug.

4. Remove the drain plug.
