Recall Campaign: Power Steering Gear Replacement for G 2500 3/4 Ton Van (1992)

Using a 5/8 inch socket and torque wrench, apply a 25 lb. ft. (34 N-m.) torque to the Lash Adjuster Nut. This nut is on the Adjuster Screw which is
located on the center of the steering gear side cover.

If the screw does not break go to step 4.
If the screw breaks, replace the power steering gear using the procedure in the appropriate Service Manual section 3B1 under "STEERING GEAR
REPLACEMENT".

Install a Campaign Identification Label.

IMPORTANT:
THE CHANCES OF THE BOLT BREAKING ARE VERY LOW. DO NOT ORDER A STEERING GEAR UNLESS THE BOLT BREAKS.
If replacement of the steering gear is necessary, see the appropriate parts manual for part numbers. Power steering fluid may be needed if the steering
gear is replaced.

CAMPAIGN IDENTIFICATION LABEL
Each vehicle corrected in accordance with the instructions outlined in this product campaign DCS will require a "Campaign Identification Label". Each
label provides a space to include the campaign number and five (5) digit dealer code of the dealer performing the campaign service. This information
may be inserted with a typewriter or ball point pen.
Each "Campaign Identification Label" is to be located on the radiator core support in an area which will be visible when the vehicle is brought in for
periodic servicing by the owner.
Apply the "Campaign Identification Label" only on a clean, dry surface.
