Beginning on September 24, 1985 or Julian Date 267, (refer to Figure No. 1), all models of the THM 700-R4 transmission were built using a new oil pan
gasket (P/N 8654799).. This new gasket is thinner than the cork type gasket and must be used only for 1984 through 1986 model year transmission
assemblies with oil pans that have a continuous raised rib (refer to Figure No. 2).
