Rattle Noise in Instrument Panel Compartment
(Replace Instrument Panel Compartment Striker)

Condition
Some owners may comment about a rattle noise coming from the instrument panel (IP) compartment. This noise may be more noticeable traveling in
rough road conditions.
Cause
The condition may be caused from improper latch to striker preload, causing a loose fit at the striker connection.
Correction
A new IP compartment striker has been developed to correct this condition. Replace the striker on affected vehicles. Use the part number listed below.
Use the following Service Procedure.
Removal Procedure
1.
Lower the IP compartment door.
2.
Remove the two screws that attach the striker to the IP compartment (Figure 1).
3.
Remove the striker.
Installation Procedure
1.
Attach the striker to the IP compartment.
2.
Install the two striker screws (Figure 1). Tighten
