Automatic Transmission Dipstick - Dipstick Tube: Service and Repair
4L60-E Automatic Transmission
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Oil level indicator.
2. Stud and/or nut securing the oil level indicator tube bracket to the transmission.

Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Oil level indicator tube and the seal from the transmission.
-
Pull the oil level indicator tube up from the transmission.
4. Oil level indicator tube seal from the oil level indicator tube.
Clean
-
Metal parts using solvent. Do not allow the solvent to enter the transmission.
-
Air dry.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. New seal into the transmission case.
2. Oil level indicator tube into the seal.

Lower the vehicle.
3. Stud and/or nut securing the oil level indicator tube to the transmission.
-
Tighten:
-
Oil level indicator tube nut to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
-
Oil level indicator tube stud to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Oil level indicator.
