Seals and Gaskets: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the propeller shaft.
3. Remove the rear extension oil seal.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

J21426 Rear Extension Seal Installer
1. Install the new seal using J21426.
2. Coat the outer edge of the seal case with a non-hardening sealer.
3. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to one of the following as appropriate:

Propeller Shaft Replacement (Front Axle-All Except NP8) in Driveline/Axle.

Propeller Shaft Replacement (Front Axle-NP8) in Driveline/Axle.

Propeller Shaft Replacement (System Balanced Assembly) in Driveline/Axle.

Propeller Shaft Replacement-One-Piece in Driveline/Axle.

Propeller Shaft Replacement-Two-Piece in Driveline/Axle.

Propeller Shaft Replacement-Three-Piece in Driveline/Axle.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Fill the transmission to the proper level with Dexron (R) III Transmission Fluid.
