Push Rod Replacement - Removal

REMOVAL

1. Remove the valve rocker arm cover.
2. Remove the valve rocker arm bolt.
3. If the pushrod is the only component to be replaced, back the valve rocker arm bolt off until the valve rocker arm can be swung away from the

pushrod.

Pull the pushrod out

4. Remove the valve rocker arm witch the ball.

5. Remove the pushrod and the pushrod guide.
6. Store the removed components in order so that the components can be reassembled in the same location.  
7. Inspect the components for the following conditions:

Cracking at the bolt shoulder of the valve rocker arm bolts 

^

Scored or damaged valve rocker arm or valve rocker arm ball mating surfaces

^

Wear or damage to the valve rocker arm areas that contact with the valve stems and sockets

^

Bent pushrods Roughness or scoring at the pushrod ends
