Connecting Rod: Service and Repair

Tools Required

J24086-C Piston Pin Removal and Installation Set, or equivalents

DISASSEMBLE

1. Disassemble the piston rings. Use new rings during assembly.
2. Remove the connecting rod bearings.

If the bearings will be reused, place the bearings in a rack in order to ensure reInstallation with the original connecting rod and the cap.

3. Remove the piston pin as follows: 

(1) Place the piston/connecting rod on the piston pin remover. Fully support the connecting rod.
(2) Press out the piston pin.

ASSEMBLE 

NOTE:  Each, connecting rod and connecting rod bearing cap must be marked beginning at the front of the engine. When viewed from the front of the
