TECHNICAL
Subject:
Rattle Noise at Rear Seat Upper Attachment
(Install New Rubber Bumper and Plastic insulator)
Models:
1999 Chevrolet and GMC C/K (Silverado and Sierra) Extended Cab Models
with Rear Folding Seat (RPO AM7)
Condition
Some owners may comment about a rattle noise coming from the rear seat at the upper attachment where the seat connects with the rear cab wall. This
condition may be more noticeable when driving over bumps and could occur when the seat is folded up (stowed) or folded down.
Cause
The condition may be caused by a gap at the rear seat upper attachment.
Correction
A new rubber bumper and plastic insulator have been developed in order to correct the condition. Install new rubber bumpers, plastic insulators, and
flock strip insulators on the rear seat upper attachments on affected vehicles. Use the following procedure and the part numbers listed below.
1.
Remove the rear seat from the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement-Rear Bench in the Seats subsection in the 1999 Silverado and Sierra Service
Manual.
2.
Apply adhesive, GM P/N 12346067 (In Canada use P/N 10953507) or LOCTITE(TM) Prism 410*, to the rear of the rubber bumpers (one per
side).
