Diesel MFI Pump: Adjustments

Timing Alignment Marks

PROCEDURE

For the engine to be properly timed, the marks on the top of the engine front cover must be aligned with the marks on the injection pump flange.
The engine must be off when the timing is reset. On California models, align the half circles. On Federal models, align the scribe marks. 

1. Disconnect the throttle rod.

2. Loosen the three pump retaining nuts.

3. Align the mark on the injection pump with the mark on the front cover.

4. Tighten the pump retaining nuts to 40 Nm (30 ft lbs).

5. Connect the throttle rod.
