Universal Joint: Description and Operation
The cross and roller type universal joint is a cross-shaped spider joint connecting two Y-shaped yokes. When design angles of more than 3-4° are
exceeded, joints wear faster than normal. Original equipment joints are lubricated for life and cannot be lubricated on the vehicle. Never clamp propeller
shaft tubing in a vice. Always clamp one of the yokes and support shaft horizontally.
