K 3500 Truck 4WD V8-5.7L VIN R (1998)
1. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Installation under Engine Unit Repair.
2. Clean all sealer from the corners of the oil pan gasket where it meets the engine front cover.
IMPORTANT: Apply the proper amount of adhesive GM P/N 12346141 or equivalent 25 mm (1.0 inch) into the area where the engine front
cover meets the engine block oil pan surface.
3. Apply a 5 mm (0.196 inch) bead of adhesive, GM P/N 12346141 or equivalent, 25 mm (1.0 inch) long to the engine front cover to engine block
junction.
4. Install the engine oil pan.
5. Connect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor wire.
6. Install the water pump.
7. Install the crankshaft balancer.
