Timing Chain: Service and Repair
Timing Chain and Sprockets Replacement
1. Disconnect both the battery negative cables from the batteries.
2. Rotate the engine to TDC.
3. Remove the upper fan shroud from the radiator.
4. Remove the drive belt from the water pump pulley.
5. Remove the lower fan shroud from the radiator.
6. Remove the crankshaft balancer from the crankshaft.
7. Remove the water pump from the engine block.
8. Remove the engine front cover from the engine block.
9. Remove the bolt from the timing chain sprocket to the camshaft.
10. Remove the fuel injection pump drive gear from the camshaft.
11. Remove the timing chain and sprocket from the camshaft.
12. Replace the wood drift key if damaged.
