Fuel Filter Element
FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Drain the fuel from the fuel filter. Refer to Water-in-Fuel Draining Procedure.
2. Disconnect the water-in-fuel sensor harness connector.
3. Remove the fuel filter (2) from the fuel filter/heater element housing (1).
4. Remove the water-in-fuel sensor (3) from the fuel filter (2).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the water-in-fuel sensor (3) in the fuel filter (2).
IMPORTANT: Inspect the fuel filter/heater element housing and the fuel filter for a dislocated filter seal or contamination. Contamination on the
fuel filter/heater element housing may cause leakage at the fuel filter. Coat the seal with clean engine oil.
2. Install the fuel filter (2) on the fuel filter/heater element housing (1).
3. Connect the water-in-fuel harness connector.
4. Prime the fuel system. Refer to Fuel Feed and Fuel Return Pipe Purge Procedure.
5. Connect the negative battery cables.
6. Start the engine and inspect for fuel leaks.
