Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair
CONDENSER REPLACEMENT
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the air inlet duct.
3. Remove the PCV hose from the air cleaner.
4. Remove the air inlet assembly.
5. Reposition the upper radiator hose clamp from the radiator.
6. Remove the upper radiator hose.
7. Remove the upper fan shroud.
8. Reposition the lower radiator hose clamp from the radiator.
9. Remove the lower radiator hose.
10. Position the lower fan shroud to one side to allow removal of radiator.
11. Remove the radiator.
12. Remove the charged air cooler.
13. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
14. Remove the compressor discharge hose assembly bolt from the condenser.
15. Disconnect the compressor discharge hose assembly from the condenser.
16. Remove the evaporator tube nut from the condenser.
17. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the condenser.
18. Remove the. Insulator retainer bolts and the upper insulator retainers.
19. Remove the condenser from the vehicle.
