Fuel Heater: Service and Repair
Fuel Filter/Heater Element Housing Replacement
FUEL FILTER/HEATER ELEMENT HOUSING REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Drain the fuel from the fuel filter housing. Refer to Water-in-Fuel Draining Procedure.
2. Disconnect the fuel heater and water-in-fuel sensor harness connectors.
3. Disconnect the fuel hoses from the fuel filter/heater element housing.
4. Remove the fuel filter bracket-to-valve cover bolts.
5. Remove the filter/heater element housing.
6. Remove the fuel filter bracket from the fuel filter/heater element housing.
7. Spin off the fuel filter from the fuel filter/heater element housing.
8. Inspect the fuel filter and replace if necessary.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the fuel filter to the fuel filter/heater element housing.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the fuel filter bracket to the fuel filter/heater element housing.
Tighten
Tighten the bracket-to-housing bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
